BLOG POST 1: WELCOME (May 2025)
Hello and welcome to our new blog Breaking Bard. This blog aims to delve into the
research we have carried out over the last 13 years regarding The Wadlow Portrait, why we
believe it is likely a portrait of Shakespeare (from life), and to bring you all the latest news as
and when it happens.
The most exciting thing about this Blog is that it will, we hope, give you a chance to join the
debate with us, whether you are in support or not. We will not be entering into the authorship debate. Frankly, we have enough on our plate with the work we have!
Who are we?
Steve Wadlow; Owner (on behalf of family) of The Wadlow Portrait.
Madoc Roberts; Film maker.
We will both write articles, there may be “guest articles”.
Here goes.
Whether you have discovered the Wadlow Portrait via our Netflix UK and Ireland
documentary “Stuff of Dreams”, all the recent media coverage, or you have just stumbled
upon us, we are truly grateful for your interest in our story.
Since airing on Netflix in March of this year (hopefully it will reach your part of the world
shortly if you are not in the UK or Ireland), we have been amazed and delighted by all of the
messages of support and the debate that is now starting to take hold.
The attention has been incredible, and it has been wonderful to see how our story has
created so much discussion and curiosity. I have even had messages from Shakespeare scholars and students thanking us for persevering and bringing this “wonderful” portrait to the attention of so many. The most humbling comments have been from such experts, expressing gratitude for creating debate about Shakespeare himself, something no Shakespeare lover can be against, whether they think we have a case or not.
The media coverage and especially Stuff of Dreams has started to open doors, sparked
debate and brought our long-running investigation to a much wider audience, one that we
intend to increase further over the coming months with many things in the pipeline.
This blog will be a place for sharing that: The story so far, behind-the-scenes discoveries,
unanswered questions and most importantly, your thoughts.
In the meantime, thank you for your support and interest, and we look forward to continuing
this amazing journey together. This is all about debate, so please feel free to post a comment below.
Next Post coming soon. "The most asked question"
Steve
